I guess the thought of it bugs me more then anything else.īut in both cases, the ticket is finding a place other then the rear to mount. Slicing my legs if I slide off the back - This is probably not something I really need to worry about. They should be thick enough to resist cracking, yet have give if I end up mashing the rear down.Īnd I must do that, because I've cracked two of the plates themselves now.Ģ. I found some splash guards made by the Highland group that are about 3/8" thick, which I can get for $20. I originally wanted to use thicker rubber, but couldn't find any. Not sure if that's due to me hitting them or that the mount is too stiff, so it flexes up and down and then cracks. Their cheap (I get four mounts out of a pair of $6 guards), but I've broken off a few.
As I mentioned, I've already made a short mount out of a splash guard. If I mount there, I want the plate as close to the end as possible.
Standing the bike up - The rear fender is short for a reason. I need to check NYS laws though as far as visibility.īut with the rear setup, I have two concerns:ġ. What I was hoping for though was to avoid the rear mount entirely, but I can't think of any place else besides the front number plate that would work and not get in the way while riding.
